Back to the Mountain draws on the strength of the bones of traditional old time and bluegrass music as a platform to explore unique interpretations of these beloved songs. Add to that their haunting, relevant, and at times heartbreaking original songs and powerful vocal performances for an entertaining and memorable Colorado music experience.

Riley Ann: Solo Acoustic
Riley Ann uses her Old Time background and expansive palate of musical tastes to write original music just as diverse as her influences. Sometimes haunting and dark, sometimes with reckless abandon, her songs are born from intuition & listening to what the song wants paired with the craft of songwriting. As stated by one of her musical colleagues, "She'd charge hell with a bucket of water."

She shares the love of music with her students and through her volunteerism throughout the Front Range of Colorado.

Blues Duo: Riley Ann & Dave Jensen

Dave Jensen & Riley Ann make a dynamic team recalling the traditions of blues and R&B in a way that all generations can appreciate. Armed with tenor sax, blues fiddle, and electric & acoustic guitars, their arrangements fill the room with an unbridled energy and soulful singing that is sure to get your heart pumping and your feet dancing.

Riley Ann built her career with diverse bands (The Catcalls, Back to the Mountain, one-woman band, Darling Ravens, The Matriarchs, & more), and Dave has made a name for himself with his ripping guitar solos with Blue Grama Bluegrass Band, Rusty 44, The Hicksters, & more. Both Dave and Riley Ann are committed to teaching in their communities and cultivating the love of music and its traditions.
